Businesses in Austin now have an exciting opportunity to harness the power of solar energy while benefiting from financial incentives, thanks to Austin Energy’s  Solar Standard Offer Program. This initiative is designed to help commercial property owners and businesses integrate solar power into their operations with minimal upfront costs while maximizing long-term energy savings.

The Solar Standard Offer Program provides financial incentives to commercial customers who install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on their properties. Unlike traditional rebate programs, this initiative offers payments based on the actual energy produced by the solar system over time, making it a performance-based incentive.

Businesses can either own the solar system themselves or partner with a third-party system owner, allowing for greater financial flexibility. This means that companies can enjoy the benefits of solar power without bearing the full cost of ownership, reducing capital investment and increasing accessibility to clean energy solutions.

Program Highlights

Financial Incentives

Property owners can earn payments for hosting solar systems, with rates set at 11.2 cents per kilowatt-hour for installations under one megawatt and 8.4 cents per kilowatt-hour for larger systems.

Flexible Participation 

Owners can either install and own the solar systems themselves or collaborate with third-party developers who will handle installation and maintenance. This flexibility makes solar adoption accessible to those without the resources or desire to manage the systems directly.

Community Impact

The energy generated contributes to Austin Energy’s Community Solar Program, providing renewable energy options to residential customers, including low-income households participating in the Customer Assistance Program (CAP).

Eligibility & Application

System Requirements
